Robert Mendiola

Robert Mendiola of Bastrop passed a way on August 29,2023. Born in Bastrop County on December 9,1959 to parents Gilbert Mendiola and Amelia Selvera.

Bobby, as he was known to many, was raised in Bastrop, Texas and went on to live on Galveston Island for many years. In his early years, he learned and worked industrial jobs, and during his later years he worked at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He left his Galveston Island home in 2009 and returned to spend his later years in his hometown of Bastrop.

Bobby mastered the craft of both salt and freshwater fishing. He also enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting, camping, BBQ's, fish-frys, and crawfish boils with his family and friends. One thing is for sure, you couldn't forget the beer. He loved his classical, rock-n-roll, Tejano, and country music and more beer.

Bobby is preceded by his parents Gilbert and Amelia, his two sisters Margarita Mendiola and Alicia Lopez. He is survived by his brother Gilbert Mendiola Jr. and Baby sister Darlene Lopez, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives far and near which he loved all so much.

And last but not least a very special shout out to my longtime partner in crime Maryhelen Lamas.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home with visitation before and after the memorial. The chapel will open at 1:00 PM
