Yvonne Marie Darilek

Yvonne Marie Goertz Darilek, 83, entered into eternal peace with her loving family by her side on May 24, 2018. She was born on May 24, 1935 in Rockne, Texas to Fred M. and Mary A. Goertz. She was the 4th of 15 children. Yvonne graduated from Sacred Heart School in Rockne. She moved to Austin where she was employed by the Texas Insurance Checking Office, Tracor, and the Veterans’ Administration. She and her husband Julius later built a home in Rockne, where she spent her remaining years. She was a spirited, radiant person who loved the arts, dancing, singing, cooking, and entertaining. She was a member of the St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, Austin choir for many years. She was also a very talented seamstress and volunteered her time making costumes for the Austin Civic Ballet Company. She had a very generous heart – always giving to others. Yvonne also loved being a mother and always put the needs of her family before her own. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she was known for making the best cornbread dressing and pumpkin-pecan pie in the world. She also enjoyed traveling extensively, especially to Ireland. Most importantly, she treasured the time spent with her loving family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Julius Darilek of Rockne; sons Anthony Craig Darilek and Vangie of Bastrop, and Steve Boyd Darilek of Bastrop; daughter Sheila Darilek Moore and husband Kenny of Round Rock; granddaughter Tamara Moore Chambless and husband Dane; granddaughter Jessica Moore Alfred and husband Drew; grandsons Brent Moore and Jay Darilek; and great-grandson Callen Jack Chambless. She is also survived by sisters Annabel Harris of Houston, Rose Parris of Austin, Joy Goertz of Austin, Sandra Higgins and husband Felix of Fort Worth; brothers Steve Goertz and wife Barbara of Spring, Johnny Goertz of Rockne, Danny Goertz of Pasadena, California, Bob Goertz and wife Lori of Missouri City; brother-in-law Charles Darilek and wife Alinda of Austin; brothers-in-law Don Johnson and Bob Bishop; sister-in-law Ovon Goertz; and numerous Nieces, Nephews, Grand-Nieces, and Grand-Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Mary A. Goertz; sisters Joann Johnson, Isabel Bishop, Claudette Griffith, and Mary Jane Goertz; brothers Frederick Goertz and James Gordon Goertz; and mother and father-in-law Emil and Adela Darilek. Services will be held on Friday, June 8 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne, Texas (4045 FM 535, Bastrop, TX 78602). Rosary at 9:45 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m.   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the American Heart Association.
