William Samuel Anderson

April 18, 1940 — October 5, 2017

William Samuel Anderson, 77, went home to be with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on the morning of October 5, 2017 after bravely fighting Parkinson's disease for 19 years. Sam was born at home in Forsyth County, Georgia.  Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (JW) Anderson and Jessie Staton Anderson, a nephew, Randy Coddington, and brother-in-law, Don Coddington.  Sam is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sheila Anderson, his son David Anderson and wife Tina, his daughter Donna Miller, his sisters Joan Coddington, Janet McDowell, Jane Corley and husband Dallas, his brother, Gene Anderson and wife Teresa, his grandchildren, Allan Meredith, Ryan Anderson, Travis Anderson, and Jessica Anderson, and numerous Nieces and Nephews.  Sam served in the United States Air Force from 1958 till 1995, attaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.    Sam started going to church as a young boy in Duluth, Georgia and he often talked about the youth groups that he was part of.  He loved the Lord and wanted to tell everyone exactly who his higher power was. He loved First Baptist Church in Bastrop, Texas and he was especially proud of the groups he started there.  Twelve steps for Christians was especially one of the classes he liked.  He enjoyed going on car trips with his wife, his kids, the dog, and a tent.  He would throw a tablecloth on the hood of our station wagon and we had the best potted meat sandwiches and pork and beans. That was our picnic.  We later started using cabins. He loved the woods and the pine trees.  They were the same loblolly Pine trees that grew in Georgia. He raised rabbits as a young boy and even carried that over into adulthood.  He later got a dog named Maggie whom he was very fond of.  He started getting interested in Genealogy and really enjoyed it.  A lot of people (kin) in Georgia would invite him to their house to talk about it and feed him lunch and bake him a cake.   We thank D'aun Smith for her caregiving, the Nurses and CNA's at Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing and Rehab, Dr. Tom Hill, Dr. Robert Dougherty, South Austin Hospital, Resolutions Hospice, the Texas Neuro Rehab Center, and thanks to Dr. Edge and the First Baptist Church Bastrop Family.  Memorial Donations can be made to Capital Area Parkinsons Society or flowers may be delivered in remembrance of him.  The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Monday, October 9, 2017, Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 10, 2017, Bastrop Providence Chapel. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Fairview Cemetery.
