Walter Wilson

Walter Wilson, 69, of Smithville, formerly of Upton, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.

Walter was born in Bastrop, Texas to Magaline Wilson on March 8, 1950.

You would see Walter making his way into Bastrop every morning from Upton. He was a devoted worker to the businesses on Main St. in Bastrop for many years making sure the store fronts were cleaned and swept. As his health declined, Towers Nursing Center became his home for many years. He became the well-known “greeter” at the nursing home. Walter enjoyed walking, eating Zimmerhanzel’s BBQ and most of all helping others.

Walter had a big heart and got excited when he received even the smallest gift. He will be greatly missed.

Walter is preceded in death by his mother, Magaline Wilson.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home, 2079 Hwy. 71 East, Bastrop, Texas with a reception following at Towers Nursing Center, 372 Hill Rd., Smithville TX.
