Tula Elaine Taylor

Tula Elaine (Hatherly) Taylor, 70 of Bastrop, Texas, passed away on December 2, 2023.

Tula was born in Austin, Texas to Walton Earl Hatherly Sr. and Bessie Elicia (Siegeler) Hatherly on February 7, 1953. She attended McCallum High School in Austin before obtaining her GED. She married Dexter Taylor on December 26, 1969 in Austin.

Tula worked for the State of Texas as a title examiner for 29 years. She had many hobbies over the years, including wood working, needlepoint, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, and gardening.  She may have been slightly obsessed with cats, and loved getting to spend time with her grandchildren.

Tula is survived by her husband, Dexter Taylor of Bastrop; two children Craig Taylor of Bastrop, and Melissa Altman and husband Scott of Paige; step granddaughter Sheradyn Altman; two grandchildren, Logan and London Altman, whom she cherished; one brother, Walton Hatherly Jr. and wife Vira; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by both parents; brothers James Howard Hatherly and Frederick Hatherly; and sisters Mila Diane Woods and Becky Olson.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 7 at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 8 at Ridgeway Cemetery.
