On March 1, 2018, Tommie C. Bushong passed at the age of 89 in Bastrop, Texas. He was born December 31, 1928 in Bee County, Texas to Tom and Ida Bushong. He is also survived by brother, Jim Bushong, sister, Ellen May, special friends Ronnie and Kay Fisher and Dolly Watts. After retiring from his life as a truck driver for RoadWay and Western Gillette, he began his pursuit of a lifelong dream of life in the country. After acquiring property in Coryell County, he introduced Betty and kids to the joys of hauling rocks, herding goats, burning brush and enjoying life among county folk. The culture shock was significant, but with the aid of good neighbors and friends in the community of Turnersville, Betty and the kids thrived in the country. He loved his Bluegrass music and was seen monthly at the Pearl Community Bluegrass Jam. After the devastating loss of his wife Betty, Ronnie Fisher helped Tommie find comfort and solace with our Lord thru the Mound Cowboy Church. His beloved Pastor Bruce Cox and church family lead him to a relationship to God. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, March 10 at the Mound Cowboy Church, 3035 FM 931, Gatesville, Texas.
