Terry Alton Griesenbeck

With deep sadness, we say goodbye to Terry Griesenbeck of Smithville, Texas, age 77 . He was called home by his Heavenly Father on Friday, July 14, 2023. Terry was born in Smithville, Texas, to Agnes (Bockhorn) Griesenbeck and Bobby Griesenbeck on February 3, 1946. Terry graduated from Smithville High School in 1965. Terry is survived by his sister Kathy Kasper and husband Marvin and his sister Barbara Hoffman of Smithville, Texas, and his brother, Gary Griesenbeck and wife Cindy, of Austin, Texas, He is preceded in death by his sister, Tamara Tennefos, as well as his mother and father. Terry was a lifelong Christian and a member of First United Methodist Church in Bastrop, Texas. He loved to listen to and sing along with a wide variety of music. He also enjoyed watching college football games, especially Texas A&M and University of Texas. He enjoyed family vacations and was an avid student of American history. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church, 1201 Main Street, Bastrop, Texas. Flowers are optional. Donations on behalf of Terry may be given to The First United Methodist Church of Bastrop to the account of the Wesley Nurse Program which provides healthcare to local children and families in poor communities. Terry will be remembered as a sweet man with a giving heart who kept the faith amidst adversity.
