Sarah Frances Turner Pedrick was born on October 26, 1932, to James P. and Harriet Hill Turner in El Paso, Texas, and passed away on June 30, 2024, in Austin, Texas.
Sarah was married to Parks B. Pedrick, Jr. from 1953 until his passing in 2000. She is survived by her daughters: Libby Pedrick Sartain of Bastrop, Texas; Blair Pedrick Cherny of Austin, Texas; and Sally Pedrick Mestayer Campbell of Ventura, California. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sarah Sartain, Ginger Cherny, Adrienne Cherny Robison, Philip Cherny, Sarah Mestayer Campbell Holmstrom, Katie Campbell Shull, Jenny Campbell Webb, and Kelly Campbell Beeson; two sons-in-law; six grandsons-in-law; and ten great-grandchildren.
Sarah graduated from El Paso High School in 1950 and attended Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, and later the University of Texas in Austin, Texas before her marriage led her to New Orleans. She was a devoted mother, homemaker, volunteer, active church member, avid reader, and lifelong learner. She and her husband lived in New Orleans from 1953 until 1973 when they moved to Dallas, Texas
During her time in New Orleans, Sarah was a dedicated member of the Junior League and served in various volunteer capacities. Alongside her husband, she was involved in St. Charles Ave Presbyterian Church in New Orleans, Louisiana, Highland Park Presbyterian Church, and Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas. Sarah taught Sunday School, participated in Bible Studies and Book Clubs, and volunteered extensively within the church community.
Sarah and her husband cherished their travels together, exploring favorite destinations across the United States and abroad.
For the past two and a half years, Sarah resided in West Lake Hills, Texas, at Belmont Village where she could be closer to her family. Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the caring staff who provided comfort and support during her stay.
A private graveside service will be held later this year for her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, the Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity of your choice.
