Sandra Joyce Wilkins

September 15, 1954 — July 13, 2022

Sandy passed away July 13, 2022, in Corpus Christi a few days after attending her daughter’s wedding.  She was 67.

Sandy was born at midnight, September 15, 1954, in Bastrop, Texas to A.J. and Anna Joyce (Leath) Long.  She attended Bastrop Schools. Her first job was at age 14 when her dad purchased the Dairy Kone on Chestnut Street.

In August 1972, she married John Brown, an airman stationed at Bergstrom Airforce Base.  As a military wife, they lived at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, where Tanya was born in 1974 and England Air Force Base in Alexandria, Louisiana, where Stephen was born in 1977.

Sandy returned to Texas and began her career with the Texas DHS in Bastrop, now known as Texas Health and Human Services.  Starting as a receptionist, she worked her way up to case worker, retiring in 2008 with over 26 years of service.

Sandy was a loving and kind person with a big heart.  She was known to care for others before she cared for herself.  She loved her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and never forgot a birthday card or Christmas gift.
