Samuel “Sam” Louis Zanrosso Jr., son of Samuel Louis Zanrosso Sr. and Patricia Francine Dunn was born on February 20, 1968 in Upland, California and was called home on January 9, 2020 in Bastrop, Texas. He attended Saint Bonaventure Catholic School and Marina High School and received his Bachelor of Science in e-Business at the University of Phoenix.
Sam proudly served in the United States Navy and defended our country in Desert Storm. He received the following: First Good Conduct Award, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. He is a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Bastrop Post 12104 and a Gold Legacy Life Member of VFW.
After his military service, Sam moved to the San Diego area and began his career in manufacturing. His manufacturing manager position at a biotech company moved him from California to Texas. After several years in Texas, Sam had the opportunity to be a truck driver. He jumped at the opportunity. On August 6, 2005, Sam married the true love of his life, Melva. In 2009, they became parents to Xavier and Isaiah. His joy of the open road, water and outdoors took him and his family on many adventures. He enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. He completed his career as a Buyer at LCRA.
Sam is survived by his wife of 14 years, Melva C. Zanrosso, two sons, Xavier and Isaiah Zanrosso, his father, Samuel L. Zanrosso, Sr., a sister, Chere (Todd) Vought, mother-in-law, Yolanda Castaneda, three brothers-in-law, Gabriel Castaneda, Guillermo (Catrina) Castaneda, and Gilivaldo (Elizabeth) Castaneda, two God-children, numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved fur babies Smokey and Bandit. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Francine Dunn, and grandparents, Ettore and Ann Zanrosso, and Marvin Earl and Oletha Jean Dunn.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on January 25, 2020 at the Providence Funeral Home, 2079 Highway 71 E, Bastrop, Texas 78602.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VFW Bastrop Post 12104.
