Ronnie Henry Prewitt

August 23, 1944 — June 8, 2024

Ronnie H. Prewitt died on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the age of 79, in McDade, Texas.

A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he was born in Lufkin, Texas, to Hedwig Lamprecht and Harry Prewitt. He attended school in San Antonio.

In August 1962, after his 18th birthday, he joined the Navy and enlisted in their Submarine Nuclear Power Program as a Seaman Recruit. The Navy quickly recognized Ron’s potential and enrolled him in their officer training program, and the University of Texas at Austin. After graduation from UT, he was a commissioned officer and returned to the Navy’s submarine school. During his career, he completed sixteen deterrent patrols before returning to shore duty. This outstanding Seaman Recruit retired in 1984 as a Lieutenant Commander after 22 years of service. During his naval service, Ron enrolled in Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and earned a master’s degree that prepared him for a second career in the financial services industry.

Over the next 20 plus years, Ron served with distinction before ultimately retiring in 2013 from Charles Schwab. Ron found the love of his life in his spouse Diana. They were married for almost 34 years. She is left with many wonderful memories including Ron’s congenial sense of humor and the fellowship he shared with everyone that came into his life. Together, they forged a rewarding partnership that included establishing a homestead on the most beautiful piece of land in McDade, Texas, a small piece of heaven that presented Ron and his prized Kubota tractor – and a secondhand backhoe - with an endless list of enjoyable projects.

Ron is survived by his wife Diana Prewitt, stepson Brad Seever, grandson Austin, and sister Harriet Bellotto and her husband John Letkeman. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Peck, and sister Cecilia Elliott.

A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer. Donations may be made in Ron’s name to the charity of your choice.
