Roberta Johnelle Mcdonald

Roberta “Nell” Johnelle McDonald, age 84 of Bastrop, passed away quietly at home on March 8th, 2022, in Bastrop Texas.

Nell was born in Louise, Texas to John and Pearl Payne on May 16th, 1937. She went to school in El Campo, Texas and graduated from El Campo High School, home of the Rice Birds in 1955.

She married Ronnie "Mac" McDonald on November 3rd, 1957, in El Campo, Texas. She worked various jobs but predominantly as a telephone operator, working the age-old switchboard and graduating into computers and technology then retiring from the University of Texas at Austin as a supervisor in the communications department.  She enjoyed family time and leisure.

Roberta is survived by her eldest sister Vivian Coleman of Pasadena, Texas, daughter Susan Boone of Bastrop, son Bryan McDonald of Austin and son Jackson McDonald of Bastrop. Her grandchildren include John and his wife Christina Boone of Bastrop and James McDonald of Austin and great grandchild, Morrigan Boone, along with various nieces and nephews.

Nell is preceded in death by her husband Mac.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12th, 2022, at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home, Bastrop Texas with the burial following at Fairview cemetery in Bastrop, Texas.
