Robert L. Severance

Robert (Bob) Lynn Severance, 76, of Bastrop, TX passed away on December 4, 2022 in Austin, TX. Bob was born in Edgerton, WI to Duard and Marjorie Severance on December 3, 1946. He went to school in Milton, WI. Bob married Charlene (Homan) on June 12, 1965. He then went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1969. After moving to Austin, Bob worked as an auditor for the Texas Department of State Health Services for over 20 years. He went on to earn his MBA at the (renamed) Texas State University-San Marcos in 1998. He then taught Accounting at Texas State for 14 years before retiring in 2012. He received many awards from the Accounting Department as well as the Business Honor Society during his time at the University. Bob was very involved in the Texas State athletics and a member of the Bobcat Club. He and Charlene were season ticket holders in football, volleyball, basketball, and baseball. They also attended many softball and soccer games. Bob was also very involved with his church, Cedar Creek United Methodist Church, where he was bookkeeper for many years. Bob was a member of the bell choir where he played many of the larger bells. He in conjunction with the church helped to build many handicapped ramps in the local community. Bob was also an active member of the Emmaus community where he participated in many walks over the years, and even led a walk. In addition to the various sports events he attended, Bob loved to go camping with Charlene. They bought an RV in 2017 and enjoyed exploring the State Parks in and around the San Marcos and Austin areas. They even traveled to Milton, WI for the 56th reunion of the Milton Union High School class of 1965. Bob is survived by his wife Charlene, his daughter Lynda (and Lathon Klotz of Houston, Tx) and son Robert, Jr (and Tracy of Kyle, TX); his grandchildren Kristin (and Ryan Vogler of Katy, TX), Rachel (and Shane Hamilton of New Braunfels, TX) Justin (and fiancé Megyn of Houston, TX), Nathaniel (and Ilse of Denver, CO), Victoria (and William of San Diego, CA), Alexandria, Gabriella and Jorga (of Kyle, TX); and great grandchildren Addison, Braxton, and Paisley. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Duard and Marjorie Severance, and his sister Linda Lee Cook. Visitation will be Friday, December 9 at 10am to 11:45am at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a date and time to be determined. Memorials may be given to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
