Robert A. Monat of Bastrop, TX died unexpectedly while at home on January 10, 2020 at the age of 67.
Bob is survived by his wife Rita (Rood), his mother Lucille (Walther) Monat, brother Don Monat, sister Dianne (Shawn) Baty, uncle Tom Walther, aunt Delphine Wieberg, and cousins throughout Missouri, Iowa and Colorado. He is predeceased by his father Felix Monat, paternal grandparents Albert and Martha Monat, and maternal grandparents Emil and Angela Walther. Bob was a founding member of the Rood family “Outlaws” and a beloved son-in-law of D.C. and Mid Rood.
Bob was born in Jefferson City, MO to Felix and Lucille Monat. He and Rita were married in St. Charles, MO in 1975. Bob retired from the City of Austin Power Plant where he worked for 22 years. In 2004 Bob and Rita began their lives as full-time RVers, traveling over 137,000 miles while enjoying fishing, cycling, golfing and hiking. Bob was a problem solver including Sudokus, puzzles, projects and all those “blue” jobs, large and small. There never seems to be enough time; and Bob, a man who loved life, will be missed by friends, family and all who knew him.
There will be a celebration of Bob’s life on February 8, 2020 from 2pm – 4pm at *McKinney Roughs Nature Park’s Wildflower Hall located at 1884 Hwy 71 West, Cedar Creek, TX, *Be sure that you look for McKinney Roughs (not to be confused with McKinney Falls or the Hyatt next door). There will be balloons out front, marking the spot to turn.
On March 7, 2020 family and friends will gather at Missouri Botenical Gardens, Spink Pavillion, 4344 Shaw Blvd., St. Louis, MO from 1 - 3 p.m.
