Robert Delman Hejl

Robert Delman Hejl, 92, of Paige, passed away peacefully in his sleep while surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, June 10, 2018. He was born on December 6, 1925 to John B. Hejl and Lillie Kopecky Hejl, in Austin, Texas.  Roberts’s parents were of Czech decent which he took great pride in sharing. Robert was a master machinist, a farmer, and lover of the land and of all things in nature.  He was a Veteran of WWII, honorably serving as a Seaman 1st class in the United States Navy aboard the USS Hickox. Robert authored the book “Sailors, Ships, Samurai and Survival”, a book he wrote to educate and share with as many people as possible his life experiences during his time in the war. He is loved worldwide and will be greatly missed.
