Bob Connor, 80, of Bastrop, Texas passed away on 2/4/2024.
Bob was born in Arthur, Illinois to Earl and Jean Connor on June 5, 1943. After graduating high school, he joined the Air Force. His tours included destinations such as Randolph Air Force Base, Langley, and Thule Air Base in Greenland. During the Kennedy administration, not only did he work on top-secret military encryption technology, but he also enjoyed DJ'ing at the base, boxing, and even spent time as a barber. After serving his country, Bob went on to marry Carroll Ann Connor of Texas. He went on to raise sons Robert Phillip Connor Jr. and John Thomas Connor. Granddaughters Emma Rose Connor and Eryn Grace Connor also survived Bob.
Bob enjoyed bowling, spending time with family, umpiring, coaching Pony League baseball, working on cars, boats, and fishing. As a boat captain of the vessel "Deepstrike," he won the Texas International Fishing Tournament in the early 2000's. They amassed 6 trophies by the end of the event which included the most marlin and the largest dorado. Bob also served as an Elder for the Heart of Texas Church of Christ. As most know, Bob had a very big heart. Contributing his time to the church, his friends, and his family, there isn't any obstacle that he wouldn't overcome to make himself available to those in need. The true nature of his character was reflected daily by his work ethic, his kind treatment of others, and his accomplishments.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 9th, 2024, 10AM, at the Heart of Texas Church of Christ. The address is 652 TX-304, Bastrop, TX 78602.
