Robert Ray Asbell, 72, a long time resident of Bastrop, passed away peacefully in his home on February 18th 2024.
Robert was born to Clarence and Trenetta Asbell on December 4, 1951 in Chattanooga, TN,. He then moved to California as a child. He met his former wife, Marie, at Lake Havasu AZ. They moved to Central Texas, married in 1982 and later moved to Bastrop, where he built their home.
He worked as a Carpenter for many local families for over 40 years. He was well known for his unique rustic wood furniture and creative renovations. He was loyal and generous to those that befriended him.
Robert enjoyed spending time outdoors in nature. He was often found fishing on the lake, or in his shop creating his original pieces of furniture. He enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful grandpa to all of his grandchildren,
Robert is survived by his three daughters Angela Asbell, Callie Asbell, and Summer Whitlock, and her husband Nick; grandchildren Aiden, Evan, Cameron, Augustus, and Amilya; and brothers Bernie Asbell and Mark Asbell.
Robert is preceded in death by both of his parents as well as his brother Richard Asbell.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday March 5, 2024 in Osprey Point Hall at Lake Bastrop South Shore.
