Sadly, Richard Hoyt Derleth passed away suddenly August 4 th at the age of 89.
Richard was born on March 8, 1933 in Webster, New York. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany in the early 1950s. He moved to Bastrop County in 1983, having retired from Xerox at age 48. He spent many years volunteering and was very proud to have served as a reserve deputy in the Bastrop County and Caldwell County Sheriff’s Departments. Richard and his long-time partner of nearly 60 years, Richard H. Stage, married on July 20, 2015.
He is predeceased in death by his husband, Richard H. Stage, his sister Norma D. Fischer, and his loving parents, Vera (Mackey) & William R. Derleth. He is survived by his dear friends, Kathryn Meneley, Diane Brown and Don Leverty, along with his nieces and nephews, Frederick (Patricia) Fischer, Nancy (Donald) Story, Lisa Jarosinski, Renee Guider, Allyn (Thomas) Abraham, and Paul (Kirsten) Fischer. Richard leaves behind many other family, friends and colleagues from Webster, New York; Goshen, Indiana; and Austin/Bastrop, Texas.
