Rachel Kruse Dashnaw, 45, of Cedar Creek, TX passed away on January 13, 2022, at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Rachel was born in Las Vegas, NM to David and Donna Kruse on March 16, 1976. She grew up on a cattle ranch near Wagon Mound, NM and graduated in 1994 from Wagon Mound High School. She graduated from college in 1998 with a degree in Communications from Eastern New Mexico University. After college she moved to Seattle, WA, and then moved to Austin, Texas in January 2000. She met Karrie Dashnaw in January 2000 and they married on October 26, 2002 in Salado, TX.
Rachel worked as a Director of Calendars at Calendar Club/Go for 21 years.
Karrie and Rachel brought their daughter Claire into foster care at their home on May 8, 2007, and they adopted her on November 21, 2008.
One of Rachel’s many joys was traveling with her family and exploring new adventures. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and swimming in their backyard pool.
Rachel is survived by her husband Karrie Dashnaw, daughter Claire Dashnaw, sister Sarah Lave and husband Troy, father David Kruse and wife Kathy, mother Donna Thompson and husband Clarence, mother-in-law Barbara Dashnaw, sister-in-law Michelle Dashnaw, nephews Joseph Lave and Michael Garcia, nieces Cora and Leah Lave. She is also survived by step-brothers, step-sisters, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
A private burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Calvary Episcopal Church located at 603 Spring St., Bastrop, TX, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Episcopal Church in Bastrop, TX, Hospice Austin, and Sheldrick Wildlife Trust on behalf of the family.
