Patricia Lopez Slater, 53, of Edinburg, passed away on World Cancer Awareness Day after bravely battling cancer for 4 years on February 4, 2023 in Cedar Creek, Texas.
Patricia was born in Edinburg to Noe Lopez and Maria de Rosario Alejos Lopez on December 24, 1969. She went to school in El Paso Texas at Socorro High School. She married John Slater on May 7, 2008 in Bastrop Texas. She was very proud of her education and graduated with honors from Grand Canyon University with a Master’s in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
Patricia worked as a record’s analyst for the Austin Fire Department and the City of El Paso and continued to earn certifications, recognitions, and awards for her work. She also enjoyed her coworkers and many roles working in retail for fun. If you knew Patty, you knew she loved to shop.
Patty endlessly loved singing and dancing to music and adopted a dog, PJ, that quickly became her best friend and family. She was a thrill seeker and would never shy from any new adventure. She always wanted to share these moments with her husband John, friends, and family. She also enjoyed the company of her friends from Socorro High School class of 1988 and remained close with them throughout the years.
Patricia is survived by her husband, John Slater; daughters: Amanda, Audrey, and Andrea; siblings; Marko, Nelda, Dinelle, Iris, and Rosemarie; and parents Noe and Rose.
