Olivia Barrera Longoria

Olivia Barrera Longoria age 82 of Giddings, Texas passed away on January 21, 2022 in La Grange, Texas.

Olivia was born in Alamo, Texas to Ricardo Barrera and Florencia Uresti Barrera on December 27, 1939.  She attended Pharr, San Juan, Alamo (PSJA) High School in the Rio Grande Valley.  She married Samuel Longoria, Jr. on October 12, 1955.  They were together for 66 years in marriage and had five children.

She worked for School Districts in Pharr, San Juan, Alamo and Bastrop, Texas as a School Nurse.  She also worked as a Medical Assistant with various doctors in Bastrop, Texas.  Olivia was a member of the Bastrop Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Her favorite pastime was watching her beloved Dallas Cowboys Football team, all sports, cross stitching and baking.  She also loved spending time and spoiling her grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids.  She had such a caring heart and provided much comfort and advise to many.

Olivia is survived by her husband, Samuel Longoria, Jr., her children, Samuel Longoria III, Narce Dalia Longoria Maldonado, Norma Linda Longoria Garcia, Ricardo Longoria, and Noelia Longoria Rodea. She is also survived by her siblings, Ofelia Barrera Lopez, Ricardo Barrera, Jr., Roel Barrera, and Rogelio Barrera and family members including son in laws, daughter in laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Olivia is also preceded in death by her sister, Oralia Barrera and her parents, Ricardo Barrera and Florencia Uresti Barrera.

Visitations for Olivia will be from 10:15 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the Bastrop Providence Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the Bastrop Providence Funeral Home.
