Nell Mary Crosby (Mom), age 87, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in Katy, Texas. She was born on March 19, 1936 in Elgin, Texas, one of five children, to Vernal and Wilma Hibbs. She graduated from Bastrop High School in 1955. She married Frank Crosby on April 27, 1954 and together they had 3 children. They shared a love for raising and showing Chihuahua’s in their retirement years. Nell and Frank shared a long, wonderful life together until his passing on March 10, 2011.
Mom had an artistic nature and developed many creative hobbies. In her younger years she was highly skilled in crochet. In later life she took up painting and quilting. She made many wonderful pieces that she shared with family and friends.
Mom loved to play games and passed that passion on to her children. Growing up she taught all of us how to play numerous card and board games which we continue to enjoy.
Mom was an avid reader and as her health declined this became an activity that brought her great joy.
Mom was a spiritual woman and maintained a love of God throughout her life. She was an active member of First Assembly of God Church prior to her move and valued her time there.
She is survived by her three children, David Crosby, Richard Crosby (wife Debra Crosby), and Patricia Bradley (husband Macky Bradley). Six grandchildren, Lori Gillespie, Christian Bradley, Chase Bradley, Tyler Bradley, Jennifer Schaefer, Misty Barnes and Candice Foster. Seven great-grandchildren Tristan, Jakob, Autumn, Jase, Noemi, DeLaney, Van, Cohen and Everly. She is also survived by her younger sibling, Donnie Hibbs and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Frank Crosby, grandson Michael Crosby, and sisters Roberta Hemphill and Doris Patterson.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, September 29, 2023 from 4-6 p.m. at the Providence Funeral Home in Bastrop.
A memorial service will be held on September 30, 2023 beginning at 10:00 a.m.at First Assembly of God Bastrop followed by the burial at Fairview Cemetery.
