Nanci Ione Gibson

Nanci Ione Goetzel Gibson, 73, of Austin, TX passed away on April 27 ^th , 2022 in Bastrop, TX. Nanci was born in Alice, TX to the parents of John Henry and Elizabeth "Dottie" Goetzel on April 21 ^st , 1949. She graduated from Jourdanton High School and went on to earn a Bachelor degree in Accounting from South West Texas State University. After being set up on a blind date she would go on to marry Robert W. Gibson in 1975. Together they would move to South Austin and start a family having two sons.

Nanci worked as an accountant for several companies during her nearly 40 year career. She was often found on Friday nights bowling straight down the lanes at Capital Bowl in North Austin with many of her closest friends. When her two sons would join anything, she was easy to spot volunteering for scouts, booster clubs, concession stands, cheering from the stands, or making cookies for bake sales. She loved going to the movies on the weekends and impromptu family dinners at Pizza Hut. And at any social gathering she could easily be found behind a camera taking pictures of everyone else but herself.

Nanci is preceded in death by both her parents and sister Sue. She is survived by her two sons Sean Gibson, his wife Bekah and their two children Hunter and Makayla, and Ryan Gibson and his spouse Erin Land, her sisters Patti Beaty and Johnetta “Johnnie” Goetzel, 7 nieces, 1 nephew, and numerous grandnieces and nephews. We will all miss her Christmas spirit, stubborn nature, and signature stare.

Services will be held at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home on May 19 ^th , 2022 at 11 am to 12 pm.
