Nadine Bemus

Nadine Bemus, born on October 13, 1925 in Munday, TX to Matt and Rose Kreitz. Nadine passed away on May 2, 2022 at the age of 96.

Nadine graduated from Munday High School in 1942, attended a course at Draughn’s Business College and then on to North Texas Teachers College in Denton, TX.  She taught school for several semesters, when deciding this was not her cup of tea, started a 40 plus years career in newspaper field.   She started work at Abilene, TX Reporter News, then to Decatur, Ill. Herald & Review and after 37 years at San Antonio Express News she retired and moved to Bastrop, TX.

Nadine was an avid reader and a world traveler visiting over 60 different countries.   Her travels started with her husband, Earle, then with her sister, Elaine Weiss and with friends.

After moving to Bastrop, she did volunteer work with Ladies of Charity as well as driver of patients for Cancer Society.

Nadine was predeceased by husband, Earle, brother Bub and sister Rose Ann Welch.

Survivors include her sister Elaine and a special niece Patricia Harding Izard and nephew Corby Weiss who were always there when in need, plus Dale Weiss who cared for her cat.

Nadine was a retired member of CWA and current member of Bastrop Ascension Catholic church.

In lieu of flowers contributions to American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

A Visitation with Rosary will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Resurrection will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 10:00 am at Ascension Catholic Church in Bastrop, Texas.

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
