Michael “Mike” Ray Reed, 64, of Kerrville, Tx, passed away on August 5, 2021 in Bastrop, Tx.
Mike was born in St. Louis, MO to William and Mary Reed on August 15, 1956. As a child he lived in Boerne, TX and later in Kerrville where he attended Tivy High School. Subsequently living in Houston, then Dallas and other various cities and towns.
For those who knew Mike, will remember him as both a simple and kind man. He was a true Cowboy, who loved animals especially spirited ones. He enjoyed rodeos, bull riding and horses, driving his blue Ford truck and motorcycles. Mike was never without his signature Cowboy hat and boots. He was an adventurous spirit who loved moving around, enjoying Texas and all it had to offer him, even living among Native Americans for a brief period of his life. Mike was not a man to be tethered to a day to day routine, thus never adhering to a single occupation, some of which were painting, truck driving, handyman, truly finding joy in anything that allowed him the freedom to move from place to place. He loved music, dancing, joking around, making new friends and forging new relationships wherever he went. He will be fondly remembered and missed by his younger brothers John and Charles Reed, and his dearest sister Terry Lane. Mike is also survived by his father Bill Reed and wife Virginia, his aunt Doris Jenkins and uncle Jerry Miller, sister in laws, Kerrilyn and Kathy Reed, brother-in-law Dickie Lane and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his mother Mary Shelton, sister Sherry Worsham and brother Clifford Alvin Reed. His family is comforted in knowing he lived his life his way, on his terms and was true to his self in all that he did.
The family plans to hold a private service for Mike at a later date.
