Michael Anthony Cearley

Michael Anthony Cearley, 74, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 in Bastrop, Texas. He is  Home in Heaven.

Michael was born in Laredo, Texas to Wilbur and Joyce (Gray) Cearley on April 30, 1946. He married Violet Hughes Quick on November 15, 1975 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Michael attended school in Laredo, Irving, and Houston Texas. He graduated from Jones High School in Houston in 1964. He graduated from the University of Houston in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

He was a little league coach, homerun hitter, long golf ball striker, counselor, encourager, a true friend, loyal employee, a Christian, worker in a children’s ministry, supporter of the community and loving devoted husband and father for over 45 years. He stood tall in his ideals and helped Violet to pursue many worthy goals in education, community service and a children/youth ministry. Gary, his step son remembers Michael as being a loving, supportive father who taught him how to live and still have fun. Michael will always be remembered as a joke teller and his many stories.

Michael was an Electrical Engineer serving in many managerial positions in Corpus Christi, Dallas, Uvalde, Laredo and Lower Rio Grande Valley for Central Power & Light, later to be merged into American Electric Power. He began working in February 1969 and retired on November 19, 2009. Michael continued to work as an electrical engineer for contract companies until 2015.  He was a manager who helped his fellow employees to succeed at their jobs.

Michael is survived by his wife, Violet; his step son, Gary Quick (wife Sheryl); Pam Cearley (Roger’s wife).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Joyce Cearley; his brother, Roger Cearley; his grandparents, John and Gertrude Gray; various aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at 1:00 P.M., June 5, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church, 3005 Loop 150, Bastrop, Tx, 78602.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a memorial be given in his name to the Children’s Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 340, Bastrop, Tx., 78602
