Mary Rice

Mary Rice, age 80, of Bastrop, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Mary Rice was born in Evansville, IN to Margaret and Rufus Williams on October 6th, 1942. She went to school at Burbank Highschool in San Antonio, TX. She married Gerald Bergstrom in 1961. They were married for 25 years and had two children Joe and Lori Bergstrom. Mary Rice work as a Switchboard Operator at ATT Phone company for 23 years. She volunteered at the Bastrop Food Bank. She was involved with Calvary Baptist Church in Bastrop, TX. Mary Rice enjoyed reading the Bible daily. She was very attached to the NBA as well as teaching her grandchildren to play basketball. At any time, she would be listening to old country and gospel music. As a love for felines, Mary Rice had two cats Bubba and Thomas. Mary Rice is survived by her two children Lori Crocker, husband Mark Crocker and Joe Bergstrom, wife Mary Bergstrom. Her Brother Rodney Williams. As well as 5 grandchildren. Robert and Allison Schroeder, Kyle Spencer, Tyler and Amanda Bergstrom, Christian McCann and Kelly Radford. Mary Rice also has 5 great grandchildren Oliva, Elaina, Amelia, Robert III, Dawson. Mary Rice is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Robert and Rubin Williams. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Bastrop County Animal Shelter. Thank you.
