Marvin L Olson

Marvin L. Olson, of Del Valle, TX, passed away on September 3, 2023. He was born in Randall, Iowa to Martin and Myrtle Olson on February 14, 1937. He married Annemarie Lorenz in Munich, Germany on August 7, 1959. He worked as security personnel at Loomis Armored after 20 years of service in the US military, both in the US Army and US Air Force. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and Combat Infantry Badge. He served as Post Commander and Quartermaster at VFW Post 12104 in Bastrop. He also was involved with Vietnam Veterans of America. Marvin had an interest in historical events and visited many historic sites in his travels around the US in his camping trailer and earlier in life traveling in Europe. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing. He is survived by his daughter Tonya Murray, her husband Thomas Murray, brother Kenneth Olson and granddaughters Sarah Moritz (Steven) and Gretchen Murray and great grandsons Henry and Oliver Moritz Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Myrtle Olson, sister Loretta Carlson, brothers Jimmy Olson and Clifford Olson Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 8th at Haynie Chapel United Methodist Church in Del Valle, TX. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Austin, TX. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Haynie Chapel, P.O. Box 1128, Del Valle, TX 78617 or the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)
