Martha Cervantes

On Thursday, November 28, 2019, long-time Bastrop County resident Martha Cervantes passed away at the age of 66.

Originally from Houston, Martha moved to Paige in 1980, and from Paige to Bastrop in 2017. She served Bastrop County in many ways, working for both the county government and the school district. She was also an active parent who was particularly well loved in her roles as a substitute teacher, migrant student counselor, event chaperone, Bluebirds troop leader, softball coach, and supporter of Lynn Oualline's Dance Studio.

She was known for her outgoing and upbeat approach to those around her. She asked that her memorial be similarly upbeat and celebratory. She would expect to hear lots of laughter, see lots of leopard print outfits, and maybe even to see some of us dancing.

Martha is survived by her daughters, Esther Cervantes and Victoria Pierce, and her partner Wes Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents, Santos Cervantes and Esther Cervantes (née Quiñones), and her two elder brothers, Sammy Cervantes and David Cervantes.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home.
