Marlene Lois Ramsey

“Behold, I send an angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.” On April 6, 2018, with God’s divine grace, our mom, Marlene Lois Ramsey, 82, Bastrop, TX, was lifted up to the heavens.  She left this life of natural causes after a valiant fight and strong determination to stay with us. Born, July 17, 1935, New Richland, MN, she was the youngest of four daughters, born to Faye Rundle and Hazel Messersmith.  A graduate of Pacific Beach, CA High School, June 18, 1954, she married her “one true love”, Bobby Dale Ramsey, February 17, 1954.  Baptized unto our lord, February 12, 1956, San Pedro, CA.  Our mom was a supportive wife to a military life of 26 years, enriched by many travels and close friendships made along the journey.  She later enjoyed retirement with our Dad, traveling in their motorhome enjoying their time with family, friends and places not visited in prior travels. She was a devoted and loving mom; a volunteer for many of our childhood activities.  In 1972, she graduated from the Portsmouth Beauty School of Hair Design and succeeded as an accomplished cosmetologist.  Her patrons were the recipients of her affectionate, warm and friendly personality, as with all who knew her.  Once a “Welcome Wagon” greeter for her community, she visited and welcomed the “newbies” into the neighborhood. Her gifted talents; to paint a canvas, a figurine keepsake, crochet a blanket, sew, and craft projects have filled us with admiration for all she was and accomplished while here with us. Enjoyment throughout her life, emanated from dancing, partying with friends and family, fishing, bowling, golfing, playing cards, sipping an evening cocktail and by “Being There” for any and all who needed her. She leaves to cherish her memory, four children, Denise, Scott, Stephen and Franklin, son-in-law, Barry, daughter in-laws, Katherine, Lana and Sharon; her eleven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, brother- in- law, Ray, and a host of special nieces, nephews, grandnieces/nephews, cousins and friends. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, husband’s parents;  her beloved husband of 45 years, Dale; daughter, Dalene; cherished family – sisters, Marion, Barbara, Pat; brother-in-law’s, Howard, Jim, Bob, Frank, Don; sister-in-law’s, Foy, Rita, Barbara, Lorraine; grandson, Stephen, great grandson Joaquin. In loving tribute mom – your smile was made of sunshine, you had a twinkle to your eyes, you possessed a heart of gold, you gave love that was “unconditional”.  Your warmth and love was felt by all who knew you!  With your special love, you have taught us how to love and showed us the way. A family memorial service and celebration of her life will be held in LaJolla, CA on May 6, 2018.
