Mark Vinson McLaurin of Bastrop, Texas passed away on December 27, 2020 at the age of 69. He was born in Elgin, Texas to Artie and LaRue McLaurin. He attended school in Bastrop through high school and went on to graduate from Texas A&M, where he earned a degree in engineering in 1975. Mark worked as a civil engineer for the FAA, the Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation and a private consulting firm.
Mark was known for his boisterous laugh, wit and grand stories. He was a lifelong Aggie. He enjoyed a good book, researching family history and playing golf. An adventurer at heart, he took every chance he had to travel the US as well as the world.
Mark is survived by his daughter Shana McLaurin and her spouse, Bradley French; daughter Megan McLaurin; sister Marsha McCarroll and her spouse, Graham; nephews Todd Mack and Bradley McCarroll.
At this time, there will be no service due to the pandemic. Once it is safe to do so, his friends and family will be invited to gather together to remember and celebrate his life. In Memoriam, donations can be made to the National Park Service.
