Mario Javier Rosales Sr.

Mario Javier Rosales Sr., 84, of Austin, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020.

Mario was born on January 27, 1935 to Donaciana (Garcia) and Margarito Rosales in Mercedes, Texas.  He married Maria Catarina Perez on February 28, 1954 in Gonzales, Texas.

He worked as a parts manager most of his working career.

Mario enjoyed playing pool and dominoes; watching baseball, football and boxing. He and Maria loved to dance. Mario cooked some of the best BBQ for his wife and family events. He enjoyed taking rides in the country.

Mario is survived by four children: Mario J. Rosales Jr.; Maria Helena Rosales; Seferina Rosales Zavala and husband, Ricardo; Michelle Rosales Kneubuhl and husband, Alfred; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Catarina (Perez) Rosales and two sons: Margarito and Miguel Rosales.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home, 2079 Hwy 71 E. Bastrop, Texas 78602.

Mass will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Ascension Catholic Church, 905 Water St., Bastrop, Texas. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop.
