Margaret Jane Peschke

March 19, 1938 — June 8, 2021

Margaret Jane Peschke, 83, of Bastrop, passed away on June 8, 2021 in Georgetown, Texas. Margaret was born in El Paso, Texas to Noah and Eva Begley on March 19, 1938.  She went to school in Ysleta, Texas.  She married Wesley F. Peschke on May 28, 1955 in El Paso, Texas.

Margaret's lifelong dedication to teaching and mentorship, to every age group, was seen both in her public career and her personal life. She spent nearly 30 years working as a School Secretary and Library Aide for Austin and Bastrop ISD, helping to encourage the minds of the youth there to explore and grow in appreciation of learning. She leaves behind a legacy of building mentorship opportunities and friendships. Everything from teaching in Sunday School classes for both kids and adults, a Missionette leader, to leading women's Church groups and taking an invaluable role in "Mom's In Touch".  Spreading the good word through Missions work was Margaret's highest calling and something she dedicated much of her time and energy to. She was able to travel, along with her husband Wesley and a team of volunteers, to multiple countries in Central and South America, along with Belgium. Over the more than 40 years she spent traveling and spreading the gospel, she was able to assist local missionaries with building churches, schools, and orphanages, touching countless lives in the process. Margaret's giving spirit was not only limited to foreign nations. She cared deeply about her local community as well and spent time volunteering as a voter judge in Bastrop County for many years. She worked to protect the precious gift of life at its most vulnerable stage, by volunteering at the Bastrop Pregnancy Center. She was known for her deep and lifelong friendships and she loved to entertain and host large gatherings and parties for any cause or occasion, always with an attention to detail. Her loving care extended to everything of God's creation including nature and animals. One of her favorite past times was sitting and looking out the window to watch the various types of birds that made themselves at home in the multitude of bird houses on the property that had been built by her husband Wesley. Most of all she is remembered dearly for her unconditional love and support of her family. She played host to many family get-togethers and holiday celebrations, always with a warm hug and smile and an eagerness to sit down and catch up, or enthusiastically start up a game of cards or dominoes. She leaves behind an amazing legacy and example of how best to live one's life, focused on the things that matter the most.

Margaret is survived by her two children Judy Epperson and Jerry Peschke (wife, Rebecca), son-in-law Sid Epperson. Grandchildren: William Wesley and Jonathan (wife,Tawny) Epperson and their daughters Nadine, Isabelle, and Amelia.
