Marcella "Marcie" Trussell

September 25, 1958 — February 12, 2024

Marcella “Marcie” Trussell, 65, of Bastrop, TX, passed away on February 12th.

Marcie was born in Lamesa, Texas to Jesus “Jesse” Vaquez Ybarra and Selerina Peña on September 25, 1958. She grew up just outside Corpus Christi and went to Robstown High School. She married her husband Mark Trussell  May 25, 1992 in Bastrop, Texas and became a mother to her daughter Devan Janelle Trussell in 1996.

Marcie worked as an Export Compliance Officer for BAE Systems for over 30 years. She was very passionate about her career and loved the people she worked alongside.

Marcie was a light to the world. She lived a life full of passion, love and tenderness. Everyone in her life was so fortunate to have known such a lovely and remarkable woman. Her love and kindness graced everyone she met. Marcie was an incredibly strong woman. She was never afraid to roll up her sleeves when she was faced with challenges in life, and she worked through all of them with such elegance and grace.

Marcie enjoyed music and dancing, spending time at the beach, cheering on her favorite football teams and the “occasional” weekend shopping trip. But most importantly, Marcie loved being with her family.

Her family was everything to her. She loved her mother, father, and brothers dearly.  Her beloved husband was her best friend, who she shared adventures with for over 40 years. Marcie’s daughter was the absolute light of her life who she delighted in so very much. She cherished the memories she made with her cousins growing up and adored her sisters-in-law and all of her nieces and nephews.

More than anything, Marcie especially loved being a mom. She always said that bringing her daughter, Devan into the world was the best thing she ever did with her life. Marcie lovingly raised Devan, instilling all of her grace and tenderness to her as she grew into the exceptional young woman she is today.

Marcie is survived by her husband, Mark Trussell, daughter Devan Janelle Trussell,  mother Selerina Peña Ybarra, brothers Jerry and Jesse Ybarra, sisters-in-law Tammy & Ellie Ybarra, Lisa Martin, and Roxanne Johnson, nieces Veronica Cabrera and Erica Villarreal, and nephews Jason, Justin, & Jonah Ybarra.

Marcie is preceded in death by her father Jesus “Jesse” Vasquez Ybarra and mother-in-law Nell Trussell.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, February 19th at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home at 2pm. A livestream of the service will be available for those unable to travel.
