Lucile Marie Dabbs White

May 22, 1940 — February 26, 2018

Lucile Marie Dabbs White a long life-time resident of Bastrop and on Monday, February 26, 2018, the community began to mourn the passing of a strong woman who maintained dignity womanhood while facing life’s trials and triumphs. Lucile was a gift from God on May 22, 1940, to the late Vernon Dabbs and Ruthie Mae Scott in the small community of Taylor, Texas. Lucile grew up in Williamson County, attending the public schools and graduated from L. C. Price High School. On February 9, 1963, Lucile was united in Holy Matrimony to Louis Ray White and they shared fifty years of marriage before his passing in 2013. Their love and bond were inseparable, for she was the love of his life and he was the love of hers. In 1965 the young couple moved to Bastrop and grew to be worthy citizens. They joined Mount Rose Baptist Church and were very active members until her husband became the pastor of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Elgin. There she served faithfully, from the usher board to the choir, always supporting her husband and his ministry. Lucile worked for the Texas Highway department for a number of years before taking a job at Bastrop ISD to be closer home. When Reverend White announced his retirement, she did too, leaving there after sixteen years. After years of faithful Christian service, God called Lucile home to reward. The great cloud of witnesses waiting in Heaven for Lucile are her husband, and her parents.   She will be greatly missed, continued to be loved and appreciated for all the sacrifices that she made for her family, her church, and her community over the years. Lucile was blessed to see seventy-seven years and her loving memories will forever be instilled within the hearts of her family and friends. Lucile’s legacy will be cherished by first cousins, who more like sisters, Venna White of Santa Clara, California, and Betty Haywood of San Antonio, Texas, two brothers-in-law, Mildridge White of Bastrop and Allen Harold White and his wife, Chris, of Austin. She also leaves to grieve are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a countless number of friends and other relatives, including the Mount Moriah and Mount Rose church families.Visitation will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home, 2079 Highway 71 East, Bastrop, Texas 78602.
