Lily Lee Chapman

Lily Lee Chapman, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Lily relied on her strong faith and the Lord’s guidance in all that she did. She loved life and never lost hope. Our beautiful loving “Mom, Mema, and Grandma” always had an extra long hug to welcome you in or lead you on your way.

Lily grew up in Oklahoma where she learned cooking everything from scratch and farming at an early age. In 1979, she moved to Texas where she started working in the insurance industry. She then met MST SGT James Darryl Chapman USAF/924 TFG. They married in 1987 at Bergstrom AFB and chose to settle in the town of Cedar Creek, Texas. They were members of the Austin Harley Owners Group and loved riding and sight-seeing their way through the states. They both valued spending time with their “924th TFG family of friends” and were known as “Slick and Lee.” They managed the Flower Fund for the 924th TFG for several years.

Lily loved working in her yard, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She prioritized making memories with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, planning huge family gatherings, and was known by all for her contagious laughter. Her door was always open and her arms were always wide open. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.” Lily was predeceased by her husband, James Darryl Chapman and daughter, Terri Lynn Cobb. She is survived by her son Gary Dean Baker and his wife Tracy, her daughter Sandra Elizabeth Carey and her husband Mark, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Lily Lee Chapman will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home, 2079 State Hwy 71, Bastrop, TX 78602. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM and Funeral Service at 3:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery next to her husband James Darryl Chapman immediately following services.
