Leroy Allen Feather Jr.

January 6, 1950 — January 5, 2024

Bud Feather went to be in the arms of Jesus our Savior on January 4, 2024, after a long, courageous, and well fought battle with cancer. He was born on January 6, 1950 in Galveston Texas. He was currently living in Tucson, Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents Leroy Feather Sr. and Bonny Cross Feather.

He is survived by the love of his life, Rebecca (Becky) Bayly Feather of 45 wonderful years; his beloved children: Matthew, Scott, (Karly), Rachel, John, Daniel,(Marrisa), Mary, (Ben), Cadence, son-in-law, Nate, his dear sister Bonise and his niece, Kate.

He also has many beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren that he dearly loved.

Bud was raised in both Texas and Arizona. His strong family connections are proudly rooted in Palestine Texas where his grandparents and parents owned and operated farmland. He spent the majority of his formative years in Tucson Arizona. After high school he graduated from Athens Junior College in Athens Texas.

He was a proud railroad man. His career began in 1970 as a brakeman for BNSF Railroad (formerly known as Sante Fe Railroad). He then became a conductor and worked for 39 years working out of Galveston Texas, Winslow Arizona, and Temple Texas. He was very skilled at his job. Bud was a hard worker and faithful provider for his family. In 2010 he retired from the railroad to spend time with his family and further developing his interests and hobbies.

Bud was a very talented woodworker and especially enjoyed making various creative and unique clocks. He spent many hours in his well supplied workshop using a wide variety of wood tools. He was also a self taught handyman that learned how to fix just about anything.

He was an avid hunter, sharing many fun memories with his sons, cousins, and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping and exploring God’s marvelous creation. He became quite good at games such as Rummy with his wife, Wordle with his kids and sister, crossword puzzles with his sister, and Yahtzee with his daughter Mary. Bud has a long history on the railroad of poker games that he has enjoyed with his friends and passed onto his children. He also enjoyed a good game of pool. He owned a multitude of different cars and trucks through the years with his favorites being his GTO and his beautiful red 61 corvette. In sports he was a loyal fan of the Houston Astros and later became an avid fan of the Golden State Warriors, and especially enjoyed watching Steph Curry.

He continually created a lot of fun with his endearing sense of humor and wit. He was well-known for his clever, fun pranks. This habit was learned, sharpened, and repeated by all of his children. You can never be sure what prank might happen in the Feather household on any given day.

The one thing that no one doubted was his ferocious love for his wife, Becky. He was absolutely devoted to her. They shared a long and amazing love affair throughout their entire marriage, still dancing together most nights. He was a romantic fool making her many beautiful and creative gifts. He was always a gentleman and always a real man. His children have consistently witnessed the definition of true love.

Bud gave his life to Jesus in 1979 while sitting on a caboose. He never looked back but has had a faithful and close relationship with the Lord ever since. He served as Head Usher while belonging to Foundation Christian Church in Bastrop, Texas. He was a faithful Christian and a beautiful example for his children with his integrity, honor, wisdom, and commitment.

Bud was very patriotic and a strong Conservative. He loved America, proudly flew her flag, faithfully voted, honored the Troops and was ever proud of his son, Matt’s service in the Army.

Bud was kind to strangers, had an amazingly good heart and lived a life of integrity. His word was his bond. He was a devoted husband, father and brother, and a loyal friend. No one could ever replace him. He will be so greatly missed as we wait to be reunited with him once again in Heaven. Until then we will hold him lovingly and passionately in our hearts. This world has lost a good man.
