Kay Elaine Taylor of Austin, Texas passed away on January 20th, 2024 in Houston, Texas.
Kay was born in Austin to Elmo and Katherine Freitag on September 8, 1946. She married Norman Taylor on December 15, 1979.
Kay worked as a Keypunch Operator for the Texas Railroad Commision and other companies for the majority of her career. She did other jobs later in life, including surveying and as a mail carrier for the Red Rock Post Office. However, her primary focus throughout her life was being a wife to Norm, mom to Ryan and David, step-mom to Kim and Kelly, and Granny to her grandkids, as well as big sister to Fran, Trish and Barb.
Kay enjoyed knick-knack crafting and operated several shops over the years to sell her wares. She also was a writer and published a book entitled Love and Other Treasures.
Kay is survived by her sons, Ryan Taylor and David Taylor, her step-daughters, Kim Cordick and Kelly Taylor, her sisters, Trish Bookout and Barbara Freitag Denbow, her grandchildren, Teagan Hofmann, Rachel Holmes, Jack Taylor, Regan Hoelscher, Kristan Hoelscher, Solomon Taylor, Oliver Taylor, and Max Taylor.
Kay is preceded in death by her husband, Norm Taylor and sister, Fran Frietag.
Visitation will begin at Noon and service at 2pm, January 26th, 2024 at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home, 2079 Hwy 71 East, Bastrop, Texas 78602. Burial will follow at Bateman Cemetery, Hwy 20 / County Rd 86 Bateman, Texas 78662
