Julio Irizarry, 65, a 20-year USAF retired veteran and 15-year resident of Cedar Creek, TX, was called home by his Heavenly Father shortly after 7am on Friday, 12 February 2021 surrounded in love by his wife and sisters.
Julio was born 20 October 1955 in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico to Julio & Virginia (Rivera) Irizarry and is predeceased by both his father & mother. Julio expressed his life-long deepest love and faith in God, being baptized on 20 September 2020 at Foundation Christian Ministries, surrounded by family and church family.
Julio is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Maria (Vega) Irizarry; 3 sons: Jason & Tori (Oberg) Irizarry of Cedar Creek, Steven & Jessica (Maldonado) Irizarry of San Antonio, and Michael Irizarry of San Antonio; 6 grandchildren: Shane, Julian, Jayden, Michael, Olivia, and Abigail; 3 sisters: Iriain, Jeannette, and Vilma all of Sabana Grande, PR; as well as nieces and many nephews abroad.
Julio was a compassionate, loving man and had a love of many things: you could always find him working in his yard, spending time with the grandbabies and family, talking with neighbors, cracking unexpected jokes, doing small engine repairs for his church’s lawn equipment, and being a weekend pontoon captain.
Julio was a man of God cleverly disguised as a beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, father, papa, and friend. He never thought of his own needs but was like a father figure to many and sometimes the biggest “cheerleader” some people had, encouraging people to be the best version of themselves and pursue their goals. Julio’s battle on earth showed his strength and ever-growing faith in Christ. He leaves a legacy of courage, strength, and faith for his sons, grandchildren, and family to grow upon. We miss him terribly, but he would want to us to crack jokes and laugh, remembering our blessed days with him.
