Joyce Cogburn

Joyce Elaine Thompson Cogburn, age 78 passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on June 25, 2022 in Rosanky, TX.

Joyce was born November 24, 1943 to Rachel Coleman & Pearl Ojeman. She attended school at Cyfair in Cypress Fair, TX. She graduated in 1961.

She married Edward Marek & had two children, Jason & Melissa Marek. On April 6 ^th , 1996, she married Audie Leon Cogburn in Austin, TX.

She was employed at Savings & Loan in Houston, TX. She transferred to Compac there in Houston for over 10 years. She then moved to Austin, TX where she worked at SEMATECH from 1992-2010. She was an administrator for the COO & Vice President for 10 years.

When her children, Jason & Melissa were young, she was active in the AAYF Redcats football league in Tomball, TX. In her retirement, her proudest accomplishment was being President of the Spirit of Rosanky. Her colorful personality made her excellent at bringing in donations & people for shows.

She is survived by her husband Leon Cogburn & children Jason & Melissa Marek. Stepchildren, Shanan Cogburn. Audra Lightfoot, and Will Cogburn. Siblings, Rick Thompson & Peggy Blackman. Grandchildren, Ashlee Pearl Marek, Baylee Rachel Marek, & Alyssa Joan Teixeira. Great grandchild, Isabell Pearl Marek. And several step grandchildren & step great grandchildren. Nephews, Chris Blackman & Brenton Cummings, and niece Kay Tajchman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rachel & Pearl Thompson. Brother-in-law W.L. Blackman, nephews Kelly Blackman and Jason Cummings Aunt Maggie Odel Collins.

Her smile will be missed always. Her sense of humor will be reminisced.

A celebration of life will be held in October, date and place are pending. In lieu of flowers the Spirit of Rosanky Facebook page will have a donation setup in her honor, or donations can be sent to the Spirit of Rosanky PO Box 216 Rosanky, TX 78953.
