Johnny Juarez Cervantes Sr.

June 3, 1937 — February 28, 2018

Johnny Juarez Cervantes, Sr., 80, was born in Bastrop, Texas on June 3, 1937.  While he was at Christopher House in Austin, Texas, he passed on to be with his parents Pete and Belle Cervantes on February 28, 2018.  Bastrop was Johnny’s home for his entire life except for the time he spent in the Navy as a fireman and boiler operator. While in the Navy, Johnny traveled to the Philippines, Hong Kong, China, and Hawaii.  After his honorable discharge, he returned to Bastrop and married Stella Perez, whom he was married to for 57 years.  Above all, Johnny was committed to his wife, children, and family.  Johnny loved good Mexican food and bargain shopping.   When he could, he enjoyed buying and fixing up homes for rental or resale. Johnny loved making people laugh and always had a joke to tell.  He loved doting on his granddaughters Kelsey and Christina (Larry Ybarra), and his great-grandsons Ayden and Noah.   In addition to being survived by his wife Stella, Johnny is survived by his children Johnny Jr. and Freddie Lutz; Diane Richard and husband Coral; David Cervantes and Gina Guerrero; and Anna Cervantes.  He is also survived by his siblings Velia Juarez, Gloria Villarreal, Joe Cervantes, and Gilbert Cervantes.  In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings Evelyn Selvera, Margie Coy, and Mike Cervantes.
