John Robert Sym, 79, of Red Rock, Texas, passed away on May 9, 2024.
John was born in Derby, Connecticut to John and Wanda Sym on May 15, 1944. He married Ana on October 30, 1963 in Laredo, Texas. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, served in the United States Air Force, and retired from U.S.A.F. after 20 years.
John wasn’t born in Texas, but he got here as fast as he could. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, watching sports (especially the Dallas Cowboys), Coors Light, and excellent Country Music. He had a huge heart and appreciated good people, good food, and good
conversation.
John was a jet mechanic by trade, but his mechanical feats went well beyond that. He was able to fix just about anything - automotive, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and more. He was an excellent cook, skilled at anything from picadillo and enchiladas to brisket and pork loin to
Italian meatballs.
John is survived by his loving wife Ana Sym as well as their 4 children – Christine Prieto, John R. Sym Jr., Linda Nunez, Michael Sym – their 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his sister Irene “Renee” Sexton.
