Jody (Joe) Lee Cota was born April 15, 1970 in Artesia, New Mexico. Joe lived in New Mexico, Colorado, and California before coming to Texas. He married Brandy Bayes in Bastrop, Texas on September 24, 2016. Joe was multi-talented and skilled in many things. He was a mechanic that could work on anything from small engines, automobiles/motorcycles to airplanes, but his greatest talent was in welding. Joe could weld any material possible and was especially good with stainless steel.
Joe had a great sense of humor and what he enjoyed most was ‘horse-trading’. He would buy, fix up, trade or resell just about anything he saw value in – which was everything. He was really a great guy with a big heart. When he was young, Joe would bring home every stray critter that crossed his path and as an adult, he would pick up ‘stray’ people that had no place to go and offered what he could to help them.
In his life, Joe encountered many hard times, addictions and even near death experiences. But each time, though his health was damaged, by the grace of God he miraculously survived. We wish that we could say that he had ‘a life well lived’ but that is really not the case. However, these last four years he had made a huge turn around and married an amazing woman, Brandy. Unfortunately, the years of bodily damage finally took its toll and he could not sustain.
Joe battled mixed connective tissue disease during these years which ultimately took him Home on December 24, 2019. He is survived by his wife Brandy [who also went to the Lord on December 30, 2019]; his mother: Marsha Padilla, husband Jesse; his father: Luis Cota, wife Lynette; brother: Daniel Cota, wife Sharon, niece Kiana Cota, nephew Jacob Oldham, brother in-law Ronnie Oldham; and other family members.
A celebration of his life and promotion to glory is pending …
