June 26, ? - June 4, 2021
If you look under Jessie’s name in the title above, you will note the birth year is blank. This is
because Jessie never spoke of her age, shared her age, looked her age, felt her age, or even acted her
age. Nevertheless, you most likely would not be able to guess her age. With her age “not” being said,
we’re going to leave it at that.
Jessie Mae Seidel Geltmeier was welcomed into this world on June 26, 19___, by her parents
Joseph Seidel, Jr. and Emma Katherine (Grohman) Seidel in Bastrop County, TX. Her childhood and
teenage years were spent in String Prairie, TX where she attended school up until the sixth grade. She
then transferred to Smithville in the 7th grade and received her high school diploma in 1963. Jessie’s
activities included FHA and volleyball, but those close to her would say she spent MOST of her time
chasing Roy Milton Harmon. On December 6th of that same year, Roy became her first husband,
resulting in two sisters marrying two brothers. Jessie and Roy welcomed their first son, Allen Wayne
Harmon, on August 31, 1965, followed by their second son, Larry Don Harmon, on July 17, 1970.
After some good years, Jessie met and eventually married her second husband, Quinton Fritz
Geltmeier, on December 9, 1977. Together they created a blended family of seven including Allen,
Larry, Randy, Keith, and Deena.
Quinton and Jessie both were employed at Swiftex Furniture Company in Bastrop for many
years. After a while, Jessie became employed at Bastrop Independent School district as the Cafeteria
Manager at Mina Elementary, where she remained until her retirement. There were so many happy
and fun years shared between Jessie and Quinton throughout their thirty-six year marriage, until the
passing of Quinton on October 29, 2013.
A few things to share:
Jessie and her older sister, Ann, were known for their signature shade of shimmery Silver City
Pink lipstick. You would have thought Revlon’s profit margin depended on the purchase of their beloved
lipstick. Truth be known, Jessie remained faithful to that specific color even after Ann’s death in 2009
and continued to wear it up until it was finally discontinued, about four years ago. If you knew Jessie
well, she was devastated and had to seek family consultation to find a similar match to that Silver City
Pink color. This was always an adventure for those involved, since most colors were bought, but were
not found to be the right shade and therefore handed down to the person who gave her their efforts at
trying.
Although Jessie was often introduced by many of us as our wild and crazy Aunt, she wasn’t
actually “wild and crazy” she was just “OUR” wild and crazy. Any family get-together that involved
singing and karaoke, Jessie was the first to grab the microphone and her baby sister, Jolynn, to sing
“Satin Sheets” or “Harper Valley PTA” where her facial expressions told the story better than the lyrics
themselves.
Bet many of you never knew, but Jessie got a hot pink Play Boy Bunny tattoo in Port Aransas
during a girl’s trip. Pam says that Jessie is the only reason why she herself got one. Jessie made us all
swear to secrecy to keep it from Larry, but was not concerned as much about Allen since he already had
a few tattoos of his own. The location of Jessie’s tattoo will be left to your imagination, haha! Turns out,
her secret to Larry was not something she needed to worry about at all - Jessie just discovered that he
had been hiding his tattoos from her as well!
When Jessie was younger, she loved to go to Big Annie’s (aka Watterson Hall) and dance the
night away with her older brother James who taught her to dance. She begged for the times she would
hop into her brother Martin’s car and ride anywhere she could sweet talk him into going.
Jolynn and Jessie were obsessed by the daily dramas of “Young and The Restless” and “The
Bold and The Beautiful”, from the time the shows first aired. Jessie would record the episodes every
day and she and Jolynn would call each other at night to discuss what happened that day. On the days
that they were able to watch them together, Jolynn would laugh at how emotional Jessie would
become as if the characters were her actual family. Jessie frequently would buy the soap opera
magazines to have some insight on what was coming up in the next episodes.
Jessie had such a large group of friends, including those special girls at the Hair House in town
that she loved to visit every Friday to share their stories. It wasn’t just your normal “beauty shop
gossip”, they all had a special bond. Among her many friends, Jessie and the ladies from the school
cafeteria would try to have lunch get togethers as often as possible and enjoy time together. Her life
long besties would get together often to share lunch, laughter, a glass of wine or even better, a Mexican
Martini. These ladies go back for so many years and have shared such wonderful times together and
they had a true sisterhood. Jessie looked forward to her Friday night shuffle board and card games
with all of her fun and highly competitive groups of good friends. They became a big family and she
enjoyed those times dearly.
Jessie adored her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren and had something
wonderful to say about each and everyone of them. Jessie was smitten with her granddaughter
Brooklyn, who was often said to be her “mini me”. They shared a special bond that will live on in
Brooklyn and remind us daily of the love the two shared for each other and could be seen by the
sparkle in their eyes when you saw them together.
Above all, Jessie was the most generous and caring human that many of us will possibly ever
know. She truly put everyone before herself and would do more than the saying, “She would give the
shirt off her back”. Jessie was a remarkable woman on the inside and out and anybody that knew her,
loved her, that is just the kind of person our Jessie was.
All of Jessie’s dear friends and family just can’t imagine life without her in it and we will miss her
each and every day, but oh boy, the memories that she left with us will stay in our hearts and be
treasured forever and ever.
Jessie leaves behind her son Allen Harmon, his Wife Pam, and grandson Stuart Harmon. Her son
Larry Harmon, his fiancée Suzy Dinkins, and grandsons Michael Fellers, Seth Harmon, and
granddaughter Brooklyn Harmon. Step Son Randy Geltmeier, his wife Beverly, and granddaughter Shelly
Geltmeier Knezek and her husband Mark and her great granddaughters, Lilly Scogin & Magnolia
Knezek. Granddaughter, Megan Geltmeier Lewis and great grandsons, Ty and Dane Lewis. Grandson
Bradley Geltmeier, wife Melissa, and great granddaughters, Cali and Karli Geltmeier. Step son Keith
Geltmeier and grandson Ryan Geltmeier. Son in law AJ Zimmerhanzel and grandsons Taner and Bailey
Zimmerhanzel. Sister Jolynn Walker and husband Clark. Brother in Law, Billy W. Harmon. Sister in Law,
Della Seidel. As well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews that all loved her dearly.
Jessie is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, husband Quinton Geltmeier, step
daughter Deena Geltmeier Zimmerhanzel, her brothers James Elroy Seidel, Martin Ray Seidel, and her
sister Ann Harmon.
Fly high in heaven Jessie, we all know you will have just as much fun up there as you did here,
we will miss you forever!
