On the 4th of June 2019 at 02:00, Janet E. Sampson completed her last mortal act of faith and answered the Lord’s call to come home. She left this world a better place having been here to be reunited with her beloved Gaylan C. Sampson. Janet was born February 14, 1940 to Murray Alexander Cummings and Viola Harriet Morris in Dawson where she attended and single room schoolhouse until she graduated. Over the course of her life as a young lady, she met a man named Gaylan C. Sampson. At the tender age of 15 she betrothed herself to her one and only love on October 1, 1955 and remained at his side faithfully until he answered his calling on January 31, 2019. Their love was an unshakable testimony to their faith for 62 years while bringing three children (Scott, Jerry and Sandy) into this world. Janet, affectionately known as Grammy, was a woman of kind heartedness and great faith who served the Lord with a servants heart. Janet supported her husband’s career in the United States Air Force traveling the nation before settling in Texas to retire from the Texas Workforce Commission. Janet loved to give and give she did. She delightfully served the Pink Santa Program and the Smithville VFW post. She served her family in any and every capacity imaginable as Grammy made sure no one went without. Janet loved to shop and more so for her family than herself. She loved watching the hummingbirds. She loved watching the ducks. She loved watching the deer. She was the first person anyone would call when life took a turn toward the unexpected. She was a model mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a steadfast unwavering fixture in her family’s life that is dearly missed. The only thing she loved more than her family was her Heavenly Father. Janet is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gaylan C. Sampson; mother, Viola Morris; father, Murray Alexander; stepfather, Edwin Cummings; sister, Kay Morris Oman; brother, Kenneth Cummings and son, Scott Sampson. Janet is survived by her sister, Iris Morris Heipler; children: daughter, Sandy and husband, Jerome Scallions and son, Jerry and wife, Aurelia Sampson; grandchildren: Christopher “Crisser” and wife, Ashley Linder; Jason and wife, Desiree Linder; Cody and wife, Brandi Scallions; Colby Scallions; Lauren and husband, Michael Goodman; Kirsten and husband, John Barton; Kaylee Sampson and beloved boyfriend, Kendal Friebrich; Justin Allen; great grandchildren: Dakota, Brooke, Jasee, Kynleigh, Kirbi, Brylee, Ashton, Carson, Kameryn, Blayne, Clayton, Tom and Lilly.
