Jane Lloyd Sanders

September 28, 1949 — August 4, 2017

Jane Ann Lloyd was born at St. David’s Hospital in Austin, Texas on September 28, 1949 to Walter Daniel and Helen Anschutz Lloyd.  The family, including siblings Louis and Lori and Aunt Beverly, lived in Bastrop where they owned and operated ‘Snow White Laundry and Cleaners’.  Jane enjoyed many summers with the Don Lloyd crew on Lake Austin for skiing and house boat fun with her close Lloyd cousins.  While a student at Bastrop ISD, Jane excelled in academics and was a flutist in the Bastrop Bear Band, where she also was a twirler in high school and then drum major her Senior year.   In addition to being selected as Miss Bastrop High School and acting as a class officer every year, Jane was also selected for Girls’ State and FFA Sweetheart. In 1968, Jane entered the University of Texas and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority.  She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from UT. Ed and Jane Sanders married on March 24, 1970 at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Austin.  They lived in Austin where they raised their two children, William Darron Sanders and Tracy Sanders.  Ed and Jane (“Janie”) have truly been inseparable for 47 years. For 37 years, she was a gifted educator in Austin ISD and Bastrop ISD, with a specialty in teaching her students how to read.   True to her profession, she was a very avid reader herself. In 1996, Ed and Jane moved to Bastrop where Jane was very active in the community, particularly in re-establishing the Bastrop Homecoming and Rodeo.  She also dedicated years to the American Cancer Society as a volunteer from Bastrop, Texas with her sister, Lori. Jane performed many services for Calvary Episcopal Church.  In addition to reading and greeting, she also acted as an Oblationer, Altar Guild member, and representative to the Episcopal Diocesan Council. Jane was a very loving person, with a wonderful sense of humor and a fierce love for her family.  She was a loyal coach’s wife, spending 24 years at Ed’s football and baseball games with her kids.  Family reunions at Port Aransas for more than 25 years were highlights of her summers.  Jane’s closest friendship was with her husband and sister. Darron and Tracy were at the center of her life’s focus and activities, from birth to adulthood.  Her great joy was her granddaughters, Isabella and Gabriella Orozco.  Rivaling that position were her dogs, Mattie and Mazie. She also thoroughly enjoyed frequent gambling trips with Ed to Coushatta, LA.  You should have seen her at the black jack table getting everyone “fired up”! Jane Lloyd Sanders is preceded in death by her father, Dan Lloyd; her uncle, Johnny Mercer; and cousin, Donnie Ray Lloyd.  Surviving Jane is her husband, Ed; son, Darron; daughter, Tracy with family Carlos, Izzy and Gabby; mother, Helen; sister, Lori; and brother, Louis.
