James Billy “Sonny” Nichols was born March 20, 1938 in Austin, TX to Nouell Edgar and Amy Alta (Adcock) Nichols. He passed away May 26, 2018 at is home in Bastrop, TX at the age of 80. February 6, 1958, he married Dorothy Mae Weaver, in Via Cuna, Mexico. Following in the footsteps of his father, Sonny became a carpenter. He and his dad worked together for several years, until Sonny took a job at Swiftex Manufacturing, building frames for furniture. He later went to work for LCRA at the Sim Gideon Power Plant. He loved to work in his garden, do wood working, and play his guitar. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Nichols; daughter Brenda Fehlker and husband David of Smithville; sons James D. Nichols of Bastrop, and Danny Nichols of Smithville; grandchildren James Fehlker and wife Katie of Smithville, Jennifer Pfannstiel and husband Daniel of Spring, Jessica Fehlker of Smithville, Timothy Nichols of Woodstock, Georgia, Tyler Bradley and wife Rebecca of Red Rock, Kyle Nichols of Bastrop, Lanie Meekins of Smithville; and great-grandchildren Mason Dailey, Layla Fehlker, David Austin, and Calvin Pfannstiel. Preceding him in death are his parents; his baby brother N.E. Nichols Jr.; baby sister Audrey V. Nichols; and daughter Connie Leigh Nichols. Visitation is Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 10:00am, Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville, Texas.
