James Valery Paczkowski, age 65 formerly from Harlingen, Texas passed away on October 22, 2021 at his home in Paige, Texas. He was also known as “Patches” by family, friends, colleagues and listeners throughout his radio career.
James Paczkowski was born in St. Louis Missouri to Leo and Thelma Paczkowski on August 3, 1956. He attended high school and broadcasting school in his hometown of St. Louis. He moved to Harlingen, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley in 1989.
He married Melissa (Lisa) Paczkowski on August 12, 1994 in Harlingen, Texas. He worked for iHeart Radio as a morning show host for KTEX Radio located in Weslaco, Texas for 25 years. He received many honors during his career and was revered for his tireless involvement in community projects and charities and was well respected by friends, community leaders and colleagues. He retired from radio in 2019 and moved with his beloved wife to Paige, Texas to be close to family.
His biggest joys in life were his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. He had a wide array of interests that included sports, reading, hunting with his son, shopping with his girls and making people around him smile and feel loved. Those who had the honor to know him were forever impacted by his warm presence, sense of humor and joy of life.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa (Lisa) Paczkowski, his children David M. Andrade and spouse, Michele Andrade, Julissa R. Andrade, Monica C. Andrade, his grandchildren, Enzo Andrade, Luca Andrade, Devyn Hampton, Daeyah Hampton, Taj Hampton, Marli Maydon Andrade , Kingston Rocha and his sister Karen Mesa and spouse Raymond Mesa.
James Paczkowski was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Thelma Paczkowski and his sisters, Cynthia Paczkowski and Janice Paczkowski.
A private family service will be held.
