Herculano Avila Jr. went with our Heavenly Father on June 16 th , 2021.
Herculano was born in San Antonio, Texas to Herculano Avila and Idialina Almogabar Avila on July 31, 1943. He later moved to Austin and attended Johnston High School. Herculano Jr loved going to church where he met his love of his life Ortensia Castro, they wedded on November 24, 1963.
Herculano was a man of many careers, always good with his hands and a master of numbers. He spent many years working for Southwestern Bell and later moving to Houston to run a large meat packing company. He retired from IBM in his later years but decided he wasn’t done working and went back to finish his work journey at Wal-Mart. He enjoyed the outdoors, going camping and fishing was his love, you could drive by the Longhorn Dam and find him there with his sons and daughters fishing away. Herc also had a love for music and helping his youth family become a part of the gospel.
Herculano is survived by his children: Salomon Avila, Priscila Avila, Ruth Avila-DelaCruz, Herculano Avila III and John Paul Avila; grandchildren: Emily Zavala, Kent Avila, Valerie Estorga, Gloria Gomez, John Anthony Gomez, Gregory Gomez, Lorenzo Gomez , Jocelyn Diaz , Noah Diaz, Victoria Avila, Jennifer Avila, Vanessa Avila, Izzy Avila, Jacilyn Avila, Trinity Avila, Madison Pineda, Alex Pineda and Thomas Pineda-Avila and 18 great grandchildren.
Herculano Avila Jr is preceded in death by his parents, Herculano Avila and Idialina Avila; brother, Joshua Avila; brother, Samuel Avila; sister, Joyce Wilczynski and sister, Ruth Bayer.
