Gloria Villarreal

Gloria Villarreal returned to her heavenly home, Monday, March 4, at the age 74.

Gloria was born in Bastrop TX on September 1 ^st to Pete and Belle Cervantes.  She graduated from Bastrop High School in 1963. It was during her middle school years, she met her husband John Villarreal (from Elgin, TX). However, it wasn’t until after John returned from the military that the two officially started dating.  They were married on June 30, 1967.  After living a few years in Elgin, Gloria and John returned to Bastrop. Upon their return, Gloria began her career working for Texas Department of Human Services.  After her retirement from TDHS, she volunteered at Community Action before accepting a part-time position.  Gloria and John served as members of Faith Baptist Church.

Gloria is survived by her husband, John Villarreal, and daughter, Michelle who is married to Fernando Lopez.  She has two grandchildren Nicolas Villarreal Lopez (12) and Mariela Lopez (8).  Gloria is also survived by her sister Velia Juarez and brothers Joe and Gilbert Cervantes.  Gloria is predeceased by her parents, sisters Evelyn Selvera and Margie Coy and brothers Mike and John Cervantes.

Services, for Gloria, will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Providence Funeral Home in Bastrop.  Viewing will begin at 9 am. Pastor Greg Coy will lead a memorial service beginning at 10 am. Immediately following will be a graveside service at Alta Vista Cemetery, will be performed by Pastor Sammy Cadenas, followed by lunch at Primera Baptist Church.
